Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's, dementia and other cognitive concerns can be very challenging for caregivers.  Memory care facilities offer a safe and secure setting with staff on duty around the clock, which can provide you with peace of mind for your loved one.

Memory care communities are staffed with caregivers who are trained and accustomed to the impulsivity and reduced safety awareness exhibited by many who suffer from cognitive impairments.

Many memory care centers will offer programs designed to slow progression or alleviate symptoms associated with dementia, like agitation and aggression.  Sensory stimulation, cognitive therapies, and physical and occupational therapies are generally included in these types of settings.  Music and art have been found to help reduce stress and anxiety, so these types of therapies will often be offered as well.  These therapies are offered in a group setting which allows for greater supervision, but also fosters increased socialization.
